Marble Machine 1.5: Dear Mr. Postman, Thank You.

Our youngest son is obsessed with the cartoon character Catboy from PJ Masks. Knowing this, my mother and father were very kind and bought him his own official Catboy costume.  He loves it and he loves you. Thank you.

We have someone else to thank.

Dear Mr. Postman,

On Monday afternoon, August 28th, you delivered a nondescript brown box at our door. You didn’t know what was inside of it when you left that box outside our door.  You didn’t know that on the other side of that door there was a little boy waiting for that package. You had no idea how much joy the contents would bring him.

Here he is 2 days after getting it, at the zoo…still wearing it

Inside was a Catboy costume.  He loves it. He has not taken it off for four days           (except for bath time).   If you could only know the joy you brought us.

On this blog, I talk about this amazing marble machine.

The machine symbolizes the idea that we all have something inside, waiting to be shared; a smile, a good deed, an invention, a song.  Some of us know it’s there, some of us don’t know it yet.

That plain brown box you gave us was loaded with potential, joyous energy.  That potential energy is inside all of us. It amazes me that we can do a simple action and not even realize the significance, the positive, profound aftershocks.  We’ll never really understand just what our actions mean to everyday people who we see every day.

You make so many deliveries.  You must be making so many people happy by just doing your job, by just being you.

You did something ordinary but it was so extraordinary.  You made his week.

Our little guy has a lot of struggles, but he’s full of potential.  One day he may just outshine the sun.

I’ll never look at the mail same way again.  I’ll never see people the same way again.

Thank you.

Graciously and sincerely,

TIL

  1. Love this–and love the pic. I’m sure the animals at the zoo enjoyed seeing someone who looked closer to their kind for a change! The superhero costume age was such fun–I remember. When my boys were about 3-4, they were superheroes all the time. One of my guys had a cape and a backup cape for when the other was in the wash. He even slept in it (it was a velcro closure).
