The sun is 400 times farther away from our planet than the moon and also 400 times larger than the moon. Because of this ratio of size and distance, the moon will cover the sun today creating a total solar eclipse which will be visible here in North America from anywhere within the totality plain.
In other words…
We will be in the dark for a moment. The sun, hundreds of times larger than the moon will yield to our diminutive satellite and become obscured. Cosmic forces are at work here, perhaps teaching us that even the most powerful, central, important and relied upon elements in our lives can and will go offline.
When that happens, what we do during that moment in the dark will make all the difference.

I was reading that animals will find this hard. Birds become quiet, dogs might go a little crazy. They were saying that Oregon is the BEST place to see this eclipse. In Europe not so much.

Well, it said they would begin coverage at 3 pm in Dublin. And Oregon must be 8 hours BEHIND us. Check with your friend. Would love to see a photo from her.

With 70% coverage, it was still pretty cool: it was like somebody dimmed the lights outside, it was cooler out and my kids, bless them loved it.

To be honest, I didn’t even look. It’s been cloudy and a bit rainy here these past few days. In all the hustle and bustle, I forgot to even look up at the sky. BUT I turned on the news and got my fill of the American eclipse! :). It was beautiful to see and a bit spooky too. Felt like we just needed to see a witch go by with a broomstick.
